Matthew 3:1-2, 5-6,
1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness
2 and saying,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and
the whole region of the Jordan.
6 Confessing their
sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized
14 But John tried
to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do
you come to me?”

“Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill
all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as

4 Peter said to
Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I
will put up three shelters -- one for you, one for Moses and one

still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the
cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well
pleased. Listen to him!”
6 When the disciples
heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.
7 But Jesus came
and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t
8 When they looked
up, they saw no one except Jesus.
9 As they were
coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t
tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised
from the dead.”
